Zone 1 Bathroom
Even standing in an elevated shower tray such that the luminaire is touchable there is unlikely to be any component that could be gripped sufficiently such that a convulsing body would remain in contact - ie the collapse would break contact.
Zone 1 bathroom. Zone 2 Is the area 600mm above or to the side of the bath and shower and still 225m from the floor. The finished floor level and the horizontal plane corresponding to the highest fixed shower head or water outlet or the horizontal plane lying 225m above the finished floor level whichever is higher. Zone 1 Zone 1 for a bathroom is the same width as zone 0 the width of the bath extending to 225m above the finished floor level.
Trouble with many lighting etc suppliers is that they say suitable for bathrooms and shower rooms without being specific about zones. The area above the bath or shower tray area to a height of 225m from the finished floor level. Zone 2 extends another 06 metres from Zone 1.
In zone 1 only the following fixed and permanently connected current-using equipment shall be installed provided it is suitable for installation in zone 1 according to the manufacturers instructions. Consider a luminaire thats outside of Zones but suitable for the location - it may be class 1. In this zone a minimum rating requirement is IPX4.
A lesser IP rating will require a warmer to be installed in Zones that are further away from the water source which can be quite restrictive. This is the area directly above a bath and within a shower cubicle up to 225M in height. Zone 1 Bathroom Fans.
Bathroom safety zones are used to regulate how close electrical outlets can be to water sources. Zone 1 for a shower room is 225m from the finished floor level or the height of the fixed shower head from the finished floor level if more than 225m and the width of the shower basin.
